The 2nd International Symposium on Evidence Synthesis and Implementation in Healthcare (II SIES): building safer health systems is more than a scientific event — it is a strategic experience for those seeking to lead healthcare transformation through the best available evidence.
With the recognized expertise of the School of Nursing at the University of São Paulo (EEUSP) and JBI Brazil, both of which have a strong track record in the production, synthesis, transfer, and implementation of evidence, the II SIIES represents one of the leading spaces for debate and innovation in the field, enabling participants to learn from those who effectively develop and implement solutions that impact clinical practice and health systems.
In its second edition, the event brings together researchers, faculty members, healthcare professionals, members of JBI Brazil, and a broad academic network composed of graduate programs from several Brazilian higher education institutions, including USP, Unicamp, UFRJ, UERJ, UFF, UFJF, UFMT, UFSM, and UFPR. This integration of diverse areas of expertise and realities expands the event’s reach and relevance in advancing healthcare based on the best available evidence.
The program has been carefully structured to address highly relevant and contemporary topics, such as “Evidence Implementation and Global Health,” “Theories, Models, and Frameworks in Implementation Science,” “Implementation Science Policy in the Contemporary World,” “Project Funding,” “The Future of Implementation Science,” and “Sustainability,” among others, with contributions from international organizations including JBI, Campbell, and Cochrane.
The II SIIES will also feature speakers recognized in their respective fields and areas of expertise, such as Prof. Craig Lockwood, Director of the Implementation Science Division at JBI; Prof. Stephen Timmons, from the University of Nottingham; and Prof. Ana Estela Haddad, Secretary of Information and Digital Health at the Brazilian Ministry of Health. In addition, several other guests from different countries and Brazilian states will further broaden the discussions.
In addition to its outstanding scientific program, the II SIIES will offer nine pre-event courses designed to develop essential competencies in evidence synthesis and implementation, covering scoping reviews, systematic reviews of effectiveness, meta-analysis, and search strategies, among other topics fundamental to evidence-based practice.
Among these activities, special emphasis will be placed on the workshop “From Policy to Practice,” designed for policymakers and healthcare leaders, to be conducted by Prof. Craig Lockwood. The proposal presents, in an applied manner, pathways for transforming policy decisions into concrete actions within healthcare services, with an emphasis on engaging strategic stakeholders and promoting the effective incorporation of policies into clinical decision-making and health system management.
The program also includes opportunities to foster a network of early-career professionals, mediated by the Cochrane Central Executive Team. This initiative enables peer connection and constitutes a strategic effort to prepare the next generation to continue implementing evidence-based in health policies and practices. Emerging talents will be welcomed, connected, and prepared to assume leading roles, strengthen their competencies, and expand their practice through international collaboration and the exchange of experiences.
Another distinguishing feature is a practical immersion through technical visits to the University Hospital of USP and private hospitals in São Paulo recognized as references for the implementation of evidence-based practice — a unique opportunity to experience firsthand how science translates into quality care.
With a robust program, scientific paper presentations, international exchange, and practical experiences, the II SIIES positions itself as a landmark for evidence synthesis and implementation science in Brazil and Latin America.
If you want to expand your impact, strengthen your practice, and become part of this movement, this is your place. Do not miss out! Participate in the II SIIES. We will meet in October 2026.
